MRS. LOOFBOUROW'S DEATH

Passed Away Peacefully After a Long and Painful Illness

Mrs. Hannah Spooner Hodgkins, wife of Judge C. F. Loofbourow, died at 4:25 o'clock yesterday morning, the victim of a cancerous growth that has made her an invalid the past three years. Since June last Mrs. Loofbourow has been confined to her bed. Her suffering has been intense. For months she knew that death was not far distant. Before it came the agony that racked her ceased, and she passed away conscious of those about her and peacefully.
Mrs. Loofbourow was born in Charleston, N.H., on April 16, 1850, and came of Revolutionary stock, a great-grandfather, Capt. Ely, having been a prominent aide to Lafayette. She was married to Judge Loofbourow at Marshalltown, Iowa, on March 30, 1870. For nineteen years they lived at Atlantic, Ia., coming to Salt Lake City in 1889. Mrs. Loofbourow leaves four sons, all in this city, with the exception of Jesse H., who is attending Rose Polytechnic school at Terre Haute, Ind.
Mrs. Loofbourow was never in the strict sense a society woman, though possessed of a large circle of devoted friends. In her home her hopes and ambitions were centered. She was a member of the Unitarian society.
The date of the funeral has not yet been announced, but it will probably occur on Wednesday, the interment being in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
