OBITUARYThursday October 1, 1942

Cornelius Waechter, son of George and Eva Waechter was born two miles south of Akron, on June 7, 1878 and departed this present life on Sept. 30, 1942 at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 23 days. Death followed an illness of several months duration.
The deceased lived his entire lifetime in and near the vicinity of his birth. His early years were spent at the farm home of his parents, who were among the sturdy pioneers of the section known as the Highland Community.
On Feb 11,1904 he was united in holy matrimony with Miss Opal Showalter. They established their home in Akron and in Nov. of that same year he entered into a business career which was destined to continue over a period of 38 years. During nearly four decades he was a very familiar figure in the life of Akron town and community. Few folks make more friends and few are better like than was he. This feeling was definitely manifested in the many expressions of regret when failing health made it necessary for him to give up active work last Spring.
Left to mourn their loss are his devoted wife;three sons, Walter [WAECHTER] of Akron, Telford [WAECHTER] of North Manchester, Max [WAECHTER] of Mishawaka; four daughters, Mrs. Ben BARNETT of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. Dan MILLER of North Manchester, Mrs. Raymond LANTON of Mishawaka, Miss Laura WAECHTER of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; one brother, Reuben WAECHTER of Akron; two sisters, Mrs. Louis LEININGER of Akron, Mrs. Amanda KROFT of Logansport; one half-sister, Mrs. Lydia WOLFORD of North Dakota besides a host of other relatives and friends.
