ELKHART- Laura L. Minelli, 94, of Elkhart, passed away Friday March 31, 2017 at the Elkhart Hospice House. She was born August 12, 1922 in Akron, Indiana to Cornelius & Opal (Showalter) Waechter.
She married Anthony Minelli in 1949 in Elkhart. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2008 in Elkhart. Surviving are three children, Carmella Berg (Preston Fletcher) of Atlanta, GA, Anthony C. “Nick” Minelli, John L. Minelli (Shonne Miller) both of Elkhart; nine grandchildren, Brian Berg, David Berg(Ali), Jenna, Michael, Christopher Berg, Marin Burkholder (Jim), Elizabeth Minelli, Marissa Minelli (Bobby), Kate Minelli; two great-grandchildren, Isla Berg and Alexandria Burkholder; two special friends, Linda Curtis and Jennifer Clipp. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lindsay Minelli and six brothers and sisters.
Laura graduated in 1940 from Akron High School. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends on a regular basis. Laura formerly worked with her husband as a hostess at Minelli’s Steak House in Elkhart for many years.
A short committal service for Laura will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday April 3, 2017 in the Chapel at Memories Mausoleum at Rice Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a half hour prior to the service. Fr. Jason Freiburger will preside.
Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.
