Corrine was one of four children - her parents Gottfried and Esther Wiberg were immigrants from Sweden who settled in Chicago. Her siblings were Ethel, Nels and Elsie. Corrine's son Robert was shot and killed in Chicago.
My Aunt Corrine was my mother's sister. She was a kind and gentle soul who had much to bear in her years on Earth. Her eldest daughter, Karen,, had many mental problems and her son, Robert, was just starting to find himself in life when he was killed at Octoberfest at McCormick Place in Chicago. Her other daughter, Nancy, moved to Arizona and Corrine had virtually no one in the area of Valparaiso but a few friends and her husband.
As a girl, I remember Corrine with great affection - she was wonderful to me and I enjoyed any of the times I stayed with her. She was fun and sweet and was married to a man who was not that way -she stayed with him until she died but her life was not the best with him. She never complained - not that I ever heard. She deserved better.
Rest in peace, sweet Auntie and I will never forget you.
