He married Miss Ann Blackman, Feb. 17,1841, at Catsfield, in the Church of England. He came to Canada in the year of 1846; from thence he moved to New York state, where in 1855 his wife Ann died leaving him with the care of their two children, Eldred E. and Mary Gorham, who were both born before their parents left England.
He married his second wife, Ann Kelly, to whom eight children were born, Charles, William, Freddie, Frances, Nellie, Thomas, Bert and Arthur. His second wife died Oct 17, 1891; his daughter, Mrs. Nellie Cooley, died Sept. 29, 1891, and son Freddie in infancy. He leaves to mourn their loss seven sons, one daughter, ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was a life long member of the Church of England and died in the faith, spending his last few hours in earnest prayer and praise. Ready to go, looking to Jesus with confidence he passed out of time to spend eternity with his maker and loved ones who have gone on before.
