Caroline Anderson Stover, 95, died last Sunday at her home in Manlius. Mrs. Stover was a lifelong resident of the Valley section of Syracuse. She was a member of Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church, Onondaga Valley Literary Club, Valley VIPs, University College IRP, several Retired Teacher Associations and a former member of the Onondaga Valley Cemetery board of trustees. She received her bachelor's and master's in library science from Syracuse University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She retired from Onondaga Community College (OCC) in 1972 following 10 years of service as a librarian. She previously was employed by Onondaga Central Schools and Lyons Union School as an English teacher. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Stover, in 1969 and a son-in-law, Charles Ward, in 2005. Surviving are two daughters, Jane Ward of Fairmount and Hildy (Tony Basile) Stover of Hampton, NH; two grandchildren, Annette Potter of Fayetteville and Richard Sparrow of Boston; three great-grandchildren, Stephen Potter, and Erica and Lisa Sparrow; several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2009, at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Inc., Syracuse. Burial in Onondaga Valley Cemetery will be private. Friends may call Sunday, October 11, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home, 4612 S. Salina Street. Contributions may be made to OCC Foundation for a Caroline A. Stover Scholarship Fund.
