Miriam Kohler Diehl, 86, of Westminster, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House.

Born Jan. 17, 1923, in Duncannon, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Fillmore T. and Rebecca Owen Kohler. She was the wife of William Herbert "Herb" Diehl, who died in 1991.

She was a graduate of Western High School, class of 1940, and had attended Goucher College. She retired from the YWCA in 1983 after 33 years of service, and had also worked at the Enoch Pratt Free Library.

She enjoyed playing music, reading, being with family and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a member of the YWCA and a church organist in Baltimore.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law LaDonna L. and George F. Schemm, of Finksburg, and Winona R. and Walter G. Cofiell, of Sparks; grandchildren George W. and Michael F. Schemm; a niece, Cheryl Kohler, of Westminster, and other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers Fillmore T. Jr. and Paul O. Kohler.
