MISS RUTH UPJOHN DIES IN HOSPITAL
Daughter of Well-known Citizen Not Able to Stand Shock Following Operation for Appendicitis.
Miss Ruth Upjohn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Upjohn, died suddenly Thursday afternoon at Bronson hospital. Death resulted from the effects of an operation for appendicitis, performed a week ago. It was thought that Miss Upjohn's condition was improving until a short time before her death. Miss Upjohn was born in Kalamazoo 14 years ago and lived in this city all of her Iife where she attended the public schools. She was in the ninth grade of the Woodward avenue school and was considered a most promising student. She was a member of the first Presbyterian church and Sunday school and was closely associated with the work of the Sunday school. Among the young people of the city she was a favorite and by her charming and lovable manner never failed to make friends. Beside her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J. T. Upjohn, she is survived by two sisters, Florence and Amelia, and two brothers, Robert and Ralph.
