Carol Brumfield Nelson, 65, born October 17, 1942, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, died Saturday, September 13, 2008, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Nelson was a longtime resident of Raymond, Mississippi where she attended and was a member of First Baptist Church of Raymond.

She was known for her complete faith which was never broken, her kindness towards all she came into contact with and those whom she never met, and her unwavering love for animals.

Mrs. Nelson was a retired and beloved counselor for Hinds Community College. Her passion was watching her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews laugh and grow.

Preceding her in death were her father, Julius Monroe Brumfield; mother, June Blackburn Brumfield; grandmothers, Margaret Estes and Hope Barr Brumfield; and step-son, Scott Nelson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Clifford L. Nelson of Raymond, MS; brother, Steve Brumfield of Magnolia, MS; sisters, Martha and Elizabeth Brumfield of Milton, FL; step-son and wife, Reed and Jodie Nelson of Clinton, MS; four grandchildren, Jenni Nelson, Jake Nelson, J.T. Phillips and Maddie Phillips of Clinton, MS; fourteen nieces and nephews and eight great nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, September 15, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Raymond and 10 am today at First Baptist Church of Raymond. Funeral services will be 11:00 am today at the church. Graveside services will follow in Raymond Cemetery.
