MARION SURTEES November 25, 1922 - April 18, 2002 It is with profound sadness, that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom and Grandma, Marion on April 18, 2002, while surrounded by family. Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Dave on December 24, 1999; her parents, sisters, Marg, Myrna and Betty; brother Don. She is survived by her loving daughter Lynne Martin; son-in-law Mike; son Dean; grandchildren, Kristen, Grant and Todd Martin, Misty and Marlee Surtees; great-granddaughter Tia. Also surviving are sister Eleanor Maguire; brother Bob Moog; sisters-in-law, Betty Surtees of Winnipeg, Betty Surtees of Saskatoon and Gail Goranson of Kelowna. Dave and Marion spent 58 wonderful years together. As a Military family, they made their homes in Regina, Ottawa, Chilliwack and Winnipeg. In retirement, they spent many winters holidaying in La Jolla, CA and Meso, AZ where they made many lasting friendships. In her younger years, Mom curled at C.F.B. Winnipeg, was a member of Assiniboine Golf Club, worked part-time at Eatons and volunteered at the Nearly New Shop. She was an expert seamstress and her needlepoint pictures will be cherished for years to come. Our Mom and Grandma was the most caring, unassuming and gentle person. She spent her life putting the needs of others before her own. Despite a brain aneurysm in 1985, numerous seizures and crippling arthritis that robbed her of much of her independence, she never complained. In latter years Dave was Marions caregiver. Upon his sudden passing on December 24, 1999, Mom made her new home at Calvary Place Personal Care Home where she made many new friendships. Our most sincere gratitude to all the staff and residents of Calvary Place for the love, care, compassion and dignity given to our mom and for making Calvary Place a special home for her these past two and a half years. We will miss our Mom and Grandma immensely. A job well done "Little One". Rest in peace with Dad until we meet again. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. We consider all her family, friends and staff at Calvary Place as her honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Calvary Place Personal Care Home, 1325 Erin St., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 3R6. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
