Martha Price was born c. 1710-1712. Her first husband was Major Gen'l George Harrison (1707-1748). After his death, she married Capt. John Posey abt 27 Jun 1752 in Fairfax Co., VA, Colonial America. She had received life estates in real estate (523 acres and 200 acres) adjoining Mt. Vernon from her deceased husband. She and Capt. John moved onto a 6 acre tract of the 523 acres and built their manor house called Rover's Delight on Ferry Point in Fairfax Co., directly on the Potomac River, where they operated the ferry across the river to Maryland. They would ultimately amass abt 1000 acres of lands before she died. She bore Capt. John 5 children: Hanson (c. 1752-1818), Amelia "Milly" (c. 1755-?), St. Lawrence (c. 1756-?), John Price (c. 1756 -1788), and William (Sr.) (1758-1821). She died at Rover's Delight on 15 Dec 1768 and was most likely buried there. Her death triggered the termination of the life estate in the land and the beginning of a legal dispute between John West and Capt. John over the land. She, Capt. John, and their children were frequent guests/friends/business associates with George and Martha Washington at Mt. Vernon. By 1772, virtually all of their lands and the ferry would eventually be owned by Geo. Washington and part of his Mt. Vernon land holdings.
