Marriage and Children
George married Sophia Margaret Jameson on 15 Jun 1827 in Cupar, in the county of Fife, Scotland, with the bans also posted on 18 Jun 1827 in Perth, Perthshire, Scotland.

Sophia was born in 1808 in Cupar, Fife, Scotland, per Scotland census records, the daughter of Andrew Jameson and Euphemia Chalmers.

George and Sophia had 15 children at Bowerswell House, their home near the foot of Kinnoull Hill near the city of Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. All 15 were baptized at Kinnoull Parish Church. Seven of their children died young.

George, aged 78, died on 5 Jan 1877 at Bowerswell House in Kinnoull, Perth, Perthshire, Scotland. He was buried on 9 Jan 1877 in Kinnoull Churchyard. At his side was buried his wife Sophia, who died 17 years later on 28 May 1894, aged 86, also at Bowerswell House.
