Services for Murray H. "Jimmy" Hodges, 81, Olathe, were Tuesday at the W.L. Frye & Son Funeral Home in Olathe. Burial was in the Olathe City Cemetery.

Mr. Hodges, a former bank president and lumber company executive, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 1991, at his home. He was born May 28, 1910.

He was past president of the First National Bank of Olathe and Hodges Brothers Lumber Co. He was publisher of The Johnson County Democrat in the 1940s and 1950s. Earlier he practiced law in Olathe.

He formerly served as chairman of the Kansas Industrial Development Commission and on the board of directors of the Overland Park State Bank and Trust Co.

He was a graduate of Kansas University, where he lettered in track for three years and was a member of the K-Club and Beta Theta Pi. He received a law degree from Washburn University. He was a lieutenant in the Navy during World War II.

His father, George H. Hodges, served as governor of Kansas from 1913 to 1915 and died in 1948. His first wife, Betty Gibson Hodges, died in 1979.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. Hodges, of the home; a son, Thomas Hodges, Winnetka, Ill.; two daughters, Virginia Greenberg, Oklahoma City, and Susan Gurley, Lawrence; and 10 grandchildren.
