Henry Alvord (H.A.) Scott, Jr. born April 21, 1931, to the late Henry Alvord Scott, Sr. and Margaret White Scott in Mebane, N.C., passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Pennybyrn at Maryfield in High Point, N.C. after a year of declining health.

Henry proudly served his country while in the United States Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars.

After his service in the Korean War, Henry graduated from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, N.C., in 1957.

He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and former member of Hawfields Presbyterian Church. Henry worked in the research department of Burlington Industries until his retirement in 1993 and owns Pine Lake Mobile Home Park, Mebane, N.C.

Henry enjoyed helping others, forestry, traveling, vacationing at Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. with his wife and family and being involved in his grandchildren's lives.

In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his brother, Paisley White Scott and wife, Dorothy Smith Scott and sister, Margaret Graham Scott Holleman and husband, Ivan Holleman, Jr. Henry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gilda Mae Cox Scott; daughters, Annelda Maeree Scott McGinn and husband, William Eugene McGinn, DeLynn Rae Scott Pugh and husband, Tracy Scott Pugh; grandchildren, Johnna Elise Cranford and husband, Zackary Charles Cranford, Landon Scott McGinn, Aidan Scott Pugh; sister, Nancy Jane Scott Fuller and husband, Walter Erwin Fuller, Jr. and nieces and nephews.

Those who wish to pay their respects to Mr. Henry Scott may visit from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., Monday, September 14, at Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 West Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro, N.C.

A private graveside service will take place at Guilford Memorial Park with Rev. Gene Dean officiating.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Pennybyrn for their care of Henry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Henry's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
