John Ogren aka Johan Johnson

OGREN John Ogren was born in Sweden August 10, 1845, and passed away in Osage City, Tuesday noon Oct 28th, age 74 years, 2 months and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Bettie Pierson in March, 1867. Left Sweden in April 1869, and remained there until Feb., 1871, when he, with his family, moved to Osage City, Kans., where his wife died in Oct., 1886. In the summer of 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Levinna Johnson Nov 2, 1889, at the J.P Sutherland home in the Stotler neighborhood. He continued living in Osage City until March, 1900, when he moved to his farm where he remained until March 1911, when he with his son Carl, left for Dubue, Canada, returning to Osage City last April. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Mrs. Pete Hanson, of Bridgeport, Texas, and Mrs. David Johnson of Osage City, Kansas, and his son, Carl Ogren of Roan Mine, Canada, one daughter died in infancy. Also, 6 grandchildren, 1 sister in Sweden, Mrs. Gustaf Weterlund and a brother, Swan Ogren in Boston and Chas. Ogren of Dubue Canada. As a young man he was converted and lived an upright and christian life all these years. He was a charter member of the Swedish Ev. Lutheran Church of Stotler, always holding some responsible position amongst the church officers, at all times proving to be a trusted and able leader, giving freely of his time and means to the good cause of his church. He had a cheerful disposition, making friends wherever he went. We bid you farewell knowing that our lives have been made better by your acquaintance. But go thon way till the end be, for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days. Out of town relatives present at his funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Pete Hanson and daughter, Nellie, of Bridgeport, Texas and Chas. Ogren of Dubue, Canada. Funeral services were held in the Swedish Misson church in Osage City, Kansas, at 2 p.m., Cyrus Wedin officiating assisted by Rev. Gust Johnson and C.P. Melgren. Interment was made in the Swedish Cemetery.
