Louisa V. King was the youngest daughter of the 11 children born to the prominent East Tennessee family of Walter and Nancy Sevier King. When the widowered Walter died in 1830, the Roane County Probate Court appointed a guardian, E.G. Sevier, for the three minor King children, Louisa (age about 17), John (about 15), and Thomas (about 12).

Louisa is listed as an heir in Walter's 1830 will and is also listed as an heir in an 1839 Roane County Court of Chancery report concerning that will. The latter document notes that Louisa had "...intermarried with Thomas J. Earnest citizen of Gibson Co., TN." This marriage took place in Washington County Tennessee on April 9, 1833 when Louisa was about 20 years old. Not long after this Louisa and Thomas moved to Jefferson County Tennessee.

The Thomas Jefferson Earnest family is shown to be living in Jefferson County in the 1840, 1850, 1860, and 1870 U.S. Censuses. In the last three of these U.S. Censuses the family is living in the small town of New Market, Tennessee (in 1880 the town's population was 384). Thomas and Louisa had three children, Ann Maria (born about 1834), Walter King (born about 1835), and Mary Matilda (born about 1847).

Louisa's birth year of about 1813 was estimated using the mode of her age information listed in the 1850 to 1870 U.S. Censuses. Her death year is less certain. She is alive in the June 1870 U.S. Census and absent in the Earnest family's June 1880 U.S. Census, where her husband is listed as a widower. Using the median of these two data points it is estimated that Louisa died about 1875 and was buried in the New Market Cemetery.
