Daughter of Heinrich Hermann Elshoff and his wife, Anna Elisabeth Laubruk, Elisabeth was christened Anna Elisabeth Elshoff on 12 Mar 1825 at the Catholic church at Billerbeck, Prussia (now Germany).

Twenty-seven years later, she married Heinrich Freckmann in that same church. Their five children were all christened there as well:

Thomas Bernhardt (ch. 22 Dec 1851)
Johannes Hermann (ch. 16 Feb 1854)
Catharina Gertrude (ch. 23 Mar 1857)
Johannes Theodor (ch. 17 Mar 1860)
Caspar Johannes (ch. 24 Dec 1862).

Elizabeth, with her husband and children, departed Hamburg 20 Nov 1865 aboard the ship Thatcher Magoun, and arrived on 06 Jan 1866 at the port of New York. She died two weeks later.

We know Elizabeth’s dates of birth and death from the biographical entry about her husband contained in a book published in 1881. However, there's no mention of where she died.

If she was visibly ill at the time of her arrival, Elizabeth may have been sent to a quarantine facility at either Blackwell (now Roosevelt) Island or Ward's Island in New York Harbor.

No notice or record of her death could be found in New York or Milwaukee. Her burial location is not presently known.
