Lucinda Stamps Bradford Mitchell (Nov. 11, 1831-Feb. 7, 1919) was the youngest living daughter of the Davis brothers' sister Amanda. Lucy was born in West Feliciana Parish, moved to Madison Parish in 1844, lived with her mother and siblings at Hurricane plantation. She was educated at home, New York, and at Nazareth Academy in Kentucky. On December 13, 1850, at Hurricane, she married her cousin's widower, Dr. Charles J. Mitchell. Leaving their Madison Parish home in 1862, they lived in Texas during the war and settled in Vicksburg in 1867. After her husband died (1886) Mitchell lived with her daughter Amanda Ganier in Madison Parish until 1910, then with a daughter-in-law in Vicksburg. The Mitchells had nine children, all of whom predeceased their mother (gravestone, Vicksburg City Cemetery; Davis Family Assn. Recs., Rosemont Plantation; Confed. Veteran 17:151; Davis Papers, 1:280, 4:411-14).
