Obituary from a 1945 newspaper clipping: Bowling Pioneer in Lorain Dies. Owner of the City's first Alleys dead at 71. Frank Andorka Sr. 1601 E. 30th St., who opened the first bowling alley in Lorain, died at 11:15 p.m. yesterday at the Shields Convalescent home on Oberlin Ave. He retired 10 years ago because of failing health.

Born in Hungary (the Village of Kony) on March 24, 1874, he came to the United States in 1900 and opened a dirt bowling alley's in Huron. In 1905 he moved to Lorain and installed alley's on 28th Street. A building was completed in 1920 at 2933 Vine Avenue. He turned the business over to his sons when he retired. Andorka's hall in South Lorain was the scene of most weddings receptions and big meetings in that area for many years. He was a member of St. Ladislaus Church and the Mukedvelo Lodge.

Surviving are four sons and three daughters, James, Mrs. Joseph Koleszar, Mrs. Alex Szantay, Capt. Frank Andorka Jr. at Fort Ord, Calif., St. Sgt. William at Okinawa in the South Pacific, Lt. Bela J., at Fort Lewis, Wash., and Mary at home. His wife Anna died in April of this year.

The body is at Mathews Funeral home where it will remain until funeral services are held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Services at the church will follow at 9:00 a.m. with Fr. Ernest Rickert officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The Andorka's were in Ohio from 1900 to around 1909 and they went back to Hungary before coming back to the U.S. in 1912. Per the Ellis Island Records, the Andorka Family arrived at the Port of New York: Frank (38) Listed naturalization as 26 Sept 1906; Imire (12) Listed naturalization as 26 Sept 1906; Anna (34) Listed naturalization as 26 Sept 1906; Agnes (11) Listed naturalization as 26 Sept 1906; Leti (8); Frank (6); Mariska (5); Bela (5); and Velmot (2). The ship was the S.S. Kroonland and it departed Europe on September 14, 1912 and arrived in NY on September 24, 1912.
