Dorris Vance Phillips Spencer died December 9, 2011 at her home in Grenada. She was born September 11, 1924 in Slate Spring, MS, the daughter of James Fair and Jimmie Vance Phillips. She married Joe B. Spencer on July 1, 1945. They had three children, Joe P. Spencer, Rubye Anne Schaaf (husband Charlie) and Stacey Hansen (husband Gabriel).

She was a retired business owner and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Anne McMath.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren; Phillip and Kathryn Spencer, Chuck and Phillip Schaaf, Hunter and Hadlie Hansen; great grandchildren, Charleigh and Spencer and nieces and nephews.

Services are Tuesday, December 13, 2011, 2:30 PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Grenada. Visitation is one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Garner-Harper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
