Lawrence Vernon Anderson, age 84, of Kaleva, died May 18, 2014, at West Shore Medical Center in Manistee.

He was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Bear Lake Township the son of the late William and Ida (Lindstrom) Anderson. He was a graduate of Onekama High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Lawrence was employed as a journeyman electrician at Ex-Cello in Manistee and farmed apples and cherries. He was a life member of VFW Bear Creek Post No. 6333, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1765 of Manistee and the Michigan United Conservation Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and loved watching baseball.

Lawrence is survived by two brothers, Roland Anderson of Kewanee, Ill. and Ralph Anderson of Raleigh, N.C.; his sister-in-law, Iris Anderson of Dayton, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Hayden, Don, Harold and Robert Anderson; and sister, Florence Kruse.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on May 23, 2014, at the Oak Grove Funeral Home in Manistee with Reverend Kenneth Hovingh officiating. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. in Bear Lake Township Cemetery with military honors conducted by the VFW Bear Creek Post No. 6333 Honor Guard.
