Virginia married Emile Thomas, Jr. on 12 Sep 1899 in Buchanan County, Missouri. To this union, a son, Emile Woodson Thomas (1900 - 1985), was born.

The marriage was not long lived; by 1910, Virginia, then divorced, and her son, Emile, were living with her sister, Mary Alice (nee Woodson) Hosea.
