Excerpt from Indianapolis newspaper from August 20, 1942: A native of Indianapolis, Mrs. Cecil Thomas, 2926 Adams St., died at her home yesterday after a year's illness. She was 38. She was born here June 5. 1904, the daughter of Christian and Annie Kerkhoff. She attended public school here and 15 years ago married Mr. Thomas, who survives.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the More & Kirk funeral home, 2530 Station St. Burial will be in Washington Park. In addition to Mr. Thomas, survivors include a daughter. Marthann, two sisters, Mrs. Harvey Petree and Mrs. Fred Sutton both of Indianapolis and a brother, Forest Kirkhoff, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.



According to her death certificate, Ethel died of cervical cancer. She is buried in the family plot with Jesse & Mattie.
