She was raised in the Moose Lake area graduating from Moose Lake High School in 1942. After high school, Ebba attended cosmetology school in Minneapolis where she received her beautician's license. Ebba then moved to Washington DC to work for the Justice Department (FBI) for the remainder of WWII. On July 6, 1946, Ebba married LeRoy Hellerstedt. They lived most of their married life in Moose Lake where they raised six children. Ebba worked a number of years as a beautician before joining the Moose Lake Public School System as a secretary where she was employed 27 years before retiring in 1987. Ebba was highly respected and well liked within the community, especially in the school by faculty and students alike.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; her parents; sister: Evelyn Zasoski; and sons-in-law: Mauri Booton and William Kiehl.
Ebba will be lovingly remembered by her son: Howard (Barbara) Hellerstedt; daughters: Ann (Darrell) Kopplin, Mary Hellerstedt, Carol Kiehl, Lois Hellerstedt, and Amy (Gary) Nesgoda; ten grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
