Bernice Ollison, a loving mother and grandmother passed away May 31, 2002, of heart failure.


She was born March 12, 1912, to Ruth Marie and John Karling.


She grew up in Bastrop and Dallas where she graduated Valedictorian from Highland Park High School.


Bernice received her bachelor's degree in Homemaking at SMU where she met her future husband, Chester Ollison.


She worked for Dallas Power and Light Company as her first job and later worked at the Attorney General's Office in Austin.


Bernice was a loving mother to the three children who survive her, Will Ollison (Sharon), Pat Groom John) and Jean Westbrook (Mark). She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lindsey Westbrook, Allison (Rodney) Jester, Jonathan Westbrook, Sandra McGinnis, and David (Angie) McGinnis; three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Taylor, and Camryn McGinnis; nieces, Karen Shatley and Johnnie Louise Hancock (Vernon).


Bernice loved flowers and was a member of Violet Crown Garden Club and St. David's Auxiliary.


She was a member of University Methodist Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School.


Bernice was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Chester Ollison, and her brother Dr. C.L.

Lundell.


Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2002, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Decker United Methodist Cemetery, 8304 Decker Ln., Austin, Texas.


In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to University Methodist Church, 2409 Guadalupe St., Austin, Texas or St. David's Auxiliary, 919 E. 32nd St., Austin, Texas.
