Bill Goble, 71, of Water Gap, died July 20 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a son of the late Andrew and Dixie Collins Goble and was born January 24, 1912 at Endicott. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the Church of Christ here and had been a tool dresser for the Ky. W. Va. Gas Company before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lora Jervis Goble; four sons, Avery, Billy, and Bobby Lee Goble, all of Prestonsburg; and Paul Goble, address not available; three daughters, Mrs. Arnita Dulle, of Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Woneylle Tackett, of Lexington, Mrs. Mary Belle Robinson, of Nicholasville, Ohio, a stepson, Walter Spears, of Endicott; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Garnet Gossell, and Mrs. Charlene Merwine, both of Prestonsburg, Mrs. Ruby Billiter, of Big Rock, Va.; two half-brothers, Kermit and James Spears, both of Endicott; three half-sisters, Mrs. Lyda Sherman, Mrs. Coonie Endicott, and Mrs. Rena Burchett, all of Endicott, 14 granchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Floyd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Delmar Jervis, Willie Newell, and Ronnie Sammons officiating. D.A.V. Chapter 18, of Auxier, conducted graveside services at the family cemetery at Watergap.
Active pallbearers were Estill and Roy Ousley, Paul and Earl Robinson, John Combs, Chuck Reynolds, Billy Burchett, and Curt Lenvill Jervis.
