Anne Brown was the daughter of Dr. George & Rose Ann Davison Brown. Dr. George Brown was celebrated as a physician in Baltimore during the last part of the eighteenth century. From her biography published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Anne's aunt was Grace Davison Brown, wife of Alexander Brown, noted banker who established the banking firm of Brown Brothers & Co. Dr. George Brown and Alexander Brown were friends, but unrelated except by marriage to the Davison sisters

Anne married Robert Dickey of Ireland and lived in "the most fashionable neighborhood for New York’s social elite and wealthy merchant class". In 1821, Robert Dickey sold his property at Nos. 71 and 73 Greenwich Street to Charles Denston, after whom several of his descendants were named (including three partners of Brown Brothers, a partner of J.P. Morgan & Co. and a chairman of the Morgan Guaranty Trust).

The Robert and Anne Dickey House was recognized as an historic landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission on June 28, 2005.

Together they were the parents of the following known children:

1. George Dickey 1807–1860
