Carol Faye Simmons Ackerman, 79, of Pleasant Grove passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was born September 21, 1933 in Payson, Utah to Edward Lawrence and Dolly Priscilla Rigtrup Simmons. She married Boyd Ackerman on May 1, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Boyd passed away in January of 2012.
Carol grew up in Payson and attended schools there. Her father died when she was 13 years old. Her mother married Joe Reese and later moved to American Fork. She graduated from American Fork High School where she was involved in cheerleading.
Carol was a devoted and loving mother. She raised her children on the family farm in Pleasant Grove. Carol loved to garden, oil paint, floral design, doing crafts and was an excellent homemaker.
She was a devoted member of the LDS Church and enjoyed working in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.
She is survived by three children; Kent (LuAnn) Ackerman, Pleasant Grove; Suzanne (Jess) Louder, American Fork; Annette (Jeff) Wilson, Pleasant Grove; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Ackerman, Eagle Mountain; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her sons: Bruce and Jeff Ackerman and brother, Ted Simmons.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Mt. Mahogany Sixth Ward Chapel, 1575 North 1300 West, Pleasant Grove. Family and friends may attend a viewing Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery.
