HEDDA ULRIKA REQUIST
Mrs. Hedda Requist died Saturday, December 14, 1912 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. J. Malmquist where she had made her home for many years. Up to three weeks ago she was in good health. A bad cold contracted then brought on inflammation of the liver and gall bladder and resulted in her death.
Deceased was born in Renna parish, Ostergotland, Sweden, June 28, 1838. In 1869 she came to America to Keokuk, where on September 17, the same year she married Andrew Requist. Immediately afterward they moved to Swedona, where the home was until 1882. Then they came to Stanton and settled on the farm four miles southwest of town, where S. A. Weseen lives now.
There are five surviving children, Charles, August Requist, living in this neighborhood, and Oscar, who lives in Chetopa, Kansas; two daughters, Hilda, (Mrs. Malmquist), and Annie (Mrs. Henry Lundgren) both residents of this community. Andrew Requist, husband of the departed, has lived a number of years at Earlham, Iowa. He and all the children were at the funeral.
Funeral services were held in the Lutheran Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Peterson officiated. Mrs. E. M. Coppage sang. Pall bearers wereAndrew Mattoon, Albin Peterson, August Johnson, Axel Falk, Aaron Falk, Gust E. Johnson. Interment was in the Mamrelund Cemetery.
Mrs. Requist had been a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church in Stanton since 1882, the year she arrived here. She was a faithful member, a good woman, and fond mother.
