PIONEER DIES AT AGE OF 92
RITES TUESDAY FOR JOHN P. ANDERSON
John P. Anderson, 92, pioneer farmer, died Saturday afternoon at his home, 1004 Washington Avenue of complications of his age after 18 months illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Rev. A. Leonard Smith of Stanton in charge. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson, who was born October 23, 1851 in Sweden, came to Chicago in 1870, moved to DeKalb, Illinois, and then made the trip to this vicinity in a covered wagon in 1876, coming here with the Packard family. He was a charter member of the Tabor lutheran Church at Wallin.
He was married March 12, 1889, to Johanna Peterson, who survives him, along with two daughters, Emma Anderson and Mrs. Edith Bergren of Red Oak, a son D. Walter Anderson of Stanton, seven grandsons and four great grandchildren. A son, Martin died in 1934.
Active pall bearers will be Myron Allen, Edwin Engquist, Harold Hohanshell, Charles Hayes, Arthur Seeley, and Otto Malmberg, and honorary pall bearers will be Charles Requist, Gust Johnson, Gust Shodeen, Ed Selley, P. A. Peterson, and Herman Nelson.
Music will be furnished by Vivian Nelson and Rev. Lawrence Rydquist, soloist and Mrs. Herbert Glynn, organist and the flowers will be cared for by Mrs. Edwin Enquist and Mrs. Hilma Olson. The Sellergren Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
