She graduated from Bassick High School, and attended the University of Bridgeport where she later worked as the secretary to the dean of admissions. She and her husband, Joseph, were married in 1961 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last August. She was a devoted mother to their two sons, her family said.
Ms. Silhavy later worked full time in the Easton Public Schools, working with children for many years before retiring. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and enjoyed life, especially when it came to entertaining and her talent to create arts and crafts., her family said. She loved to travel and enjoyed frequent trips to New York City.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; her sons, Joseph Silhavy, and his wife, Jan, of Reistertown, Md.: Darrin Silhavy, and his wife Donna of Easton; her grandchildren, Rachel Silhavy and Alexis Silhavy, of Reisterstown, Md.; T.J. Silhavy and Jena Silhavy, of Easton; two brothers, Harold Anderson and Herbert Anderson of Stuart, Fla: and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Anderson and Charles Anderson. Funeral services took place June 12 at Salem Lutheran Church, Bridgeport, followed by burial at Union Cemetery, 850 Sport Hill Road, Easton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salem Lutheran Church.
