A memorial service for LaFon Barham Colvin will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2003 at First Baptist Church - Dubach, LA. Visitation will be immediately after the service. Mrs. Colvin passed away at home on Thursday, March 20, 2003 after a brief illness. She was born on May 4, 1923 in Dubach. Her husband of 55 years, Charles Ruel Colvin, preceded her in death. Mrs. Colvin is survived by sons, Chris Colvin and wife Vicki of Shreveport, Steve Colvin of Ruston; three grandchildren, Dr. Brad Colvin of Shreveport, Amy Colvin Hermes and husband Daniel of Shreveport, Nathan Colvin of Ruston; one great grandson, Brayden Hermes; in-laws, Kent and Yvonne Colvin of Shreveport, Joel and Gus Colvin of Nashville, Nancy Emerson of Homer, Catherine Emerson of Homer, and Mary and Travis Gray of Dubach; special niece, Betty Virginia Traylor; special nephews, Fred May, Jr. and Charles Barham; and numerous other family members and friends. Mrs. Colvin retired in 1988 from Commercial Union Insurance in Ruston. She was a very giving person, and always put others before herself. She donated her body to LSU Health & Sciences Center in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Dubach or the Colvin Memorial Fund (2816 Hwy. 167, Dubach, LA 71235).
