MEADE, Wendell Howes

Former Paintsville resident and attorney W. Howes Meade, 74, died Monday, June 2, in Veterans Hospital in Lexington. A resident of Richmond, he was born Jan 18, 1912 in Johnson County, the son of Lloyd G. and Beulah Howes Meade. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Laura Neel Meade; a daughter, Mary Phalen, of Phoenix, AZ; and a granddaughter, Laura Lloyd of Phoenix. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 5, in First United Methodist Church in Paintsville with Rev. Jim Powell officiating. Burial was in Mayo Cemetery with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers were William Lyons, Paul Lyons, Robert Montgomery, Pinky Jones, Arthur Pope, J. K.
