MEADE, Wendell Howes

1912-1986

Former Paintsville resident and attorney W. Howes Meade, 74, died Monday, June 2, in Veterans Hospital in Lexington. A resident of Richmond, he was born Jan 18, 1912 in Johnson County, the son of Lloyd G. and Beulah Howes Meade. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Laura Neel Meade; a daughter, Mary Phalen, of Phoenix, AZ; and a granddaughter, Laura Lloyd of Phoenix. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 5, in First United Methodist Church in Paintsville with Rev. Jim Powell officiating. Burial was in Mayo Cemetery with Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers were William Lyons, Paul Lyons, Robert Montgomery, Pinky Jones, Arthur Pope, J. K. Wells, Bill Hazelrigg, Ray Conley and Escom Chandler. Paintsville Herald Wednesday, June 11, 1986
