Funeral service for Mr. Alvin Eugene Gossage, 87, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old North Church Cemetery.
Mr. Gossage went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 22, 2012. Al was born on March 30, 1921, in Frankell, Texas to the late James Thomas and Mattie Lena Jeffery Gossage.
Al grew up in Woden, Texas. He served his country in the US Army and the US Air Force. He married Lucy Marie Mayberry McBee in 1971. Because of his love of his country and how proud he was to serve and protect he was able to attend the Japanese surrender of WWII.
Al loved gardening, traveling, bird watching, raising animals and being with his family. He loved to share stories about his time and travel in the service.
Al was survived by his step-son, Scott McBee and wife, Pamela and a daughter-in-law, Sandie McBee; as well as nieces and grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucy Marie Mayberry and stepson, Christopher Harlan McBee.
