OREGON CITY- Funeral for Chris R. Strohmeyer, former city manager of Oregon City, will be 2 p.m., Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 720 Jefferson St. Mr. Strohmeyer died Tuesday at Sierra Vista Care Center. He was 85.

Mr. Strohmeyer, a lifelong resident of Oregon City, joined the municipal staff in 1937 and worked for the city for 27 years. He was a city manager from 1958 until his retirement in 1964, when he was hired as inspector for the Oregon City municipal swimming pool.

Before becoming city manager, he worked as a resident engineer during the construction of the Oregon City reservoir. He helped in the construction of the sewage treatment plant, municipal elevator and the Oregon City-West Linn water treatment plant and pipeline.

Mr. Strohmeyer was an engineer for Clackamas county prior to joining the Oregon City staff. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Elks Lodge 1189.

Survivors include a step daughter, Patricia Newton of Napa, Calif.; and brother Louis C. of Oregon City.

Remembrance may be contributions to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund of the Oregon State Elks Association Eye Clinic though the Oregon city lodge,

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
