Thompson – Dr. Joseph George Adiletta, 91, of Vernon Lane, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband for over 64 years of Claire (Fischer) Adiletta. Born in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Rosina (Buffardi) Adiletta.

Dr. Adiletta was a doctoral graduate of the New York University School of Engineering. Dr. Adiletta worked for Pall Corporation for 50 years as the President of Pallflex Products Company and as Senior Vice President and Senior Director of Media Development for Pall. He was a prolific inventor with numerous patents awarded for his creations. Dr. Adiletta served his country in Army Engineering during World War II. He was very active in his community, having served, amongst other organizations, on the Thompson Sewer Authority, as Chairman during the design, construction and operation of the new facility; the Thompson School Building Advisory Committee; the Day Kimball Hospital Board of Directors; the Putnam Redevelopment Agency; the Regional Planning Committee for Quinebaug Valley Community College; the Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 19 in Riverside, CT and Troop 66 and Explorer Post in Thompson; the Thompson Village Improvement Society; and Putnam Bank as Director. He was a former member of the Putnam Rotary Club and current member of the Thompson Lions Club. Dr. Adiletta was an avid reader, book collector, tennis player, ballroom dancer, aspiring golfer and generous benefactor to many organizations.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Adiletta is survived by sons, John Adiletta (Barbara) of Bernardsville, NJ; William Adiletta (Susan) of Cranbury, NJ; Joseph Adiletta (Dawn) of East Woodstock, CT; Mark Adiletta ( Debra) of Fairport, NY; Matthew (Karen) Adiletta of Bolton, MA; his daughter Patricia Brigman (Jeffry) of Elm Grove, WI; his sisters Mary Blasio of Boca Raton, FL and Rose Burns of Fort Worth, FL; nineteen grandchildren: Joseph (Erin) Adiletta of Cambridge, MA; Julie Adiletta (Dave) Boyle of Severna Park, MD; Christopher (Joy) Adiletta of Bothell, WA; Anthony (Lauren) Adiletta of Ewing, NJ; Dan (Laura) Adiletta of Thompson, CT; April Adiletta of Cranbury, NJ; Jeffrey (Samantha) Adiletta of Kingspoint, GA; Garrett Brigman and Logan Brigman of Milwaukee, WI; Cara Brigman of Elm Grove, WI; Blake Brigman of Milwaukee, WI; Elyise Brigman of Elm Grove, WI; Christopher Adiletta, of Omaha, Neb; Nichole Adiletta, of Albany, NY; Mark Adiletta of Syracuse, NY; Matthew, Andrew, Jack Thomas and Kathryn May Adiletta of Bolton, MA; and four great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Casey, Amelia and Jasper; and over 40 beloved nieces and nephews.
Dr. Adiletta was pre-deceased by his brother Alfonso and sisters Helen, Carol, Phyllis and Jane.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dr. Adiletta's family from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Friday, July 6, 2012 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 10:00am on Saturday, July 7, 2012 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main Street, North Grosvenordale, CT 06255. Burial will follow in Putnam Heights Cemetery, Putnam.
