Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Dora Lowry Henry, prominent Jackson resident and daughter of former Governor Robert Lowry. Rites were conducted from the Buie residence on North State street at 3:30 o'clock, her pastor, Dr. J. Lloyd Decell, officiating. Interment was in the Greenwood cemetery.
Mrs. Henry died early yesterday morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. W. M. Buie, after an illness of but a few days. Members of the immediate family were at her side when the end came shortly after midnight. She had been a resident of Jackson for the past 50 years or more and had gathered many friends who deeply mourn her demise. She was the widow of William Henry, once adjutant-general of Mississippi. She was a native of Brandon where she was born and reared. A member of the Methodist church, she was associated with the Galloway Memorial church here.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. E. L. Lamb, Memphis, and Mrs. J. M. Jayne, Greenville; four nieces, Mrs. W. M. Buie, Mrs. J. P. Matthews, Mrs. J. L. Davis, all of Jackson; Mrs. W. J. DePass, New Orleans, who was at her bedside when the end came; and a nephew, Robert Lowry, Huntsville, Ala. Pallbearers were Luke Myers, Cyril Hart, Edward Rea, Sidney Atkinson, John W. Robinson, and Alfred Bourgeois.
