Suggested edit: Son of Samuel Austin Garrett and his wife Esther Ann (Bodwell) Garrett. Herbert had three other brothers in addition to Elton mentioned below. Brothers Vincent, John, and Roy all preceded him in death, as did his wife Blanche Eva (Porter) Garrett.

Survived by 3 Daughters, Mrs. Grant Edwards, Mrs. Lena Slane and Mrs. Elaine Campbell; 1 Brother, Elton. Remains were taken by ambulance to Monte Vista, Colorado. Block's Mortuary."
(Ojo Caliente was one of the earliest health spas in the region.)
