James "Jimmy" Thomas Wright was born in Powell, Wyoming on December 2, 1947. He passed away at Texoma Medical Center with his family at his side on January 30, 2012.

Raised in Durant, Oklahoma, Jimmy soon made his reputation as a talented drummer and joined a local band, The Mutineers, later known to the world as The Five Americans. In five years, they toured the world and sold millions of albums. Jimmy left the spotlight to dedicate the rest of his life to the service of the Lord as an ordained minister and was instrumental in establishing several ministries and church plants in southeastern Oklahoma. He went on to serve as a lighting director, videographer, and media director traveling foreign and domestic to places such as Africa and Haiti for the ministries of Tommy and Matthew Barnett in Los Angeles, California, Rod Parsley in Canal Winchester, Ohio, and for Jim Bakker in Blue Eye, Missouri.

Jimmy will be remembered not only for his talent as a drummer, but also for his ability to see past the exterior and into the heart of people. He challenged the status quo of the ministries he served and those around him to pursue a more meaningful relationship with the Lord. He communed daily with his Heavenly Father and his family rejoices that he now walks with Him for all eternity.
