Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to "Voices of Experience" at the Iowa City Senior Center, Iowa City, IA 52240.
Richard was born on May 9, 1921, the son of Thomas E. and Dorris (Brownlee) Martin and grew up in Iowa City. Richard and Mary Helen were married in 1943. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
After many travels, Richard and Mary Helen settled in Cicero, Illinois with their four children. He practiced law there for twenty-three years.
Richard is survived by his children, Thomas E. Martin of Lacey, WA; Cyprian L. Martin and his wife, Barbara Prine of West Hartford, CT; Susan A. Martin of Broadview, IL; Nancy Martin and her husband, Dan Stanisavljevic of Aurora, Illinois.
Richard will be remembered by his children and those whose lives he touched for his engaging good will and enthusiastic spirit of adventure.
