James E. Flowers, 78, Treasure Lake, DuBois, died Sunday at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 23, 1933, a son of the late William and Ina Fortney Flowers.

He was married to Jean Stanton Flowers July 3, 1957. She survives.

He retired from Bell Atlantic Phone Company after 39 years of service. After his retirement from the phone company, he opened his own private investigation service. He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in DuBois, Masonic Lodge Avalon No. 0657, the Shriners International and was a past Republican Committee Chairman for Clearfield County. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Marines. He was also an avid Steeler fan.

Survivors include four children: Kimberly Robinson of Woodland, David Flowers of East Freedom, Elizabeth (Jeffery) Felker of Harrisburg and Mark (Jennifer) Flowers of Chicago; two sisters, Nancy Fenton and Mary Geist, both of Florida; a brother, Jack Flowers of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. James died Jan. 15, 2012.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel Inc., DuBois. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday by Garfield Lodge No. 559. Friends will also be received from 9 a.m. Thursday until service time at the First United Presbyterian Church, DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. Richard Howe officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard at Morningside Cemetery.
