Marcus Peter Paul Brocato, 57, an adoring father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Having spent 30 years in the hair industry, he endeared himself to clients and friends as owner of Brocato Hair Salon. Marcus enjoyed collecting, fixing, fishing and volunteer work at his children's schools. His passion for life and family was evident to all who met him. Marcus is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Cauley Brocato; children, Amy Elizabeth Brocato, Melissa Faye Brocato, Marcus Chad Brocato, Elliot Cauley Brocato, and Zoë Francesca Brocato; siblings Frank N. Brocato Jr., Melanie R. Brocato, Maria E. Brocato, Samuel J. Brocato, Kathryn A. Simoneaux, and Matthew E. Brocato; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Nicholas Brocato Sr. and Wilma Pace Brocato. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 1:00 p.m. Friends may visit with the family at a reception following the service in the church parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
