Charles Slout died Monday, Dec. 23, 1918 at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ed Slout, from influenza pneumonia. The funeral took place Thursday afternoon and burial was in the Del Norte cemetery.
Charles was born at the Shaw ranch, ten miles west of Del Norte, June 1, 1894, and he was 24 years old at the time of his death.
Most of his life was spent in the South Fork and Del Norte area. On Dec. 24, 1913, he was united in marriage to Miss Verna Simons at the residence of the bride’s parents in South Fork. To this union one child was born, which died in infancy.
Charles has been associated with is father in farming and stock raising and for the past several months has been occupied in the sawmill business near South Fork.
Left to morn are his wife; mother and father; one sister, Mrs. Russell Walker of Monte Vista; one brother, Will Slout; the grandmother, Mrs. Rebecca Shaw; and other relatives.
