Eufaula, Ala., May 9 - Mrs. Henry R. Shorter* died Wednesday at the Shorter home on College Hill. She was 82 years old and had been ill only a few days when the end of her long life came as quietly as sleep for a young child.
She was born at Orangecourt, South Carolina. She married Major Henry R. Shorter 60 years ago. He was one of the distinguished lawyers of his time, being a member of the firm of H.H. and Eli S. Shorter. Mrs. Shorter was greater loved and is survived by her daughters: Mrs. W.D. Jelks of Birmingham and Mrs. C.C. Hanson of Memphis, and one son, Col. Harry R. Shorter of Montgomery. Funeral services were Thursday morning at St. James Episcopal Church.
