Then he joined the Yokohama Butchery as manager. In 1880, the ownership changed to Langfeldt & Mayers, also dealing as Provision Merchants and Navy Contractors, and he continued to be manager.
He married Jesse Esdale in 1881. Five years after his death, his widow would marry August Langfeldt.
