Mr. Creasman is the son of Julius Robert Creasman and Henrietta Burnett. Born in Black Mountain, Buncombe county, NC he is a brother to Elizabeth Mae, Vessie Lucinda, William Forest, Ruth Dale, Mary Catherine and Victor Eugene Creasman.

His father was admitted to the Western NC asylum in Morganton, NC in 1923 when James was a young man.

James worked as a plumber at the Charleston Naval shipyard and died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head, ruled homicide.
