Sarah Alexander was the daughter of Nathaniel Alexander (ca. 1767 - ca. 1825) of Cabarrus County per Bedford County, TN records:

“Francis Locke and his wife Sarah Locke formerly Sarah Alexander, daughter of Nathaniel Alexander, late of Cabarrus County, N.C., to Joseph R. McInley of the State of Tenn. and the County of Bedford - $575.00 – ‘Land situated in the County of Bedford, Tenn. which includes one undivided ninth part of a tract of land known by the name of the Alexander land having descended from the aforesaid Nathaniel Alexander to his heirs at law.’

Bedford County, Tennessee “Petition for the heirs of Caleb Phifer for a division of land. Petition of William Houston and his wife Sarah, Elizabeth Moore, Robert McKenzie and Mary his wife, John N. Phifer and Ann his wife, A. C. McRee in right of his deceased wife Barbara, Cornelius McRee, Caleb P. McRee by right of Mary Ann McRee and Margaret McRee who was an infant under age of twenty one years by their father and next friend A. C. McRee, Robert W. Smith and Margaret his wife, Eliza Mears , Francis Lock and his wife Sarah, Elam Harris and Mary his wife, Nancy Alexander an infant under the age of twenty one by her guardian and next friend Samuel S. Harris, Esther Alexander who is under twenty one years by her guardian and next friend Elam Harris, Charles and John Anderson who are also under twenty one years by their guardian and next friend Caleb P. Alexander, all of North Carolina, represented that Caleb Phifer of Cabarrus Co., NC, departed this life sometime in the year 1811. He died seized of a tract of land in Bedford Co., TN, containing about 5000 acres. Caleb Phifer made and published his Last Will and Testament and proven in County Court of Cabarrus Co., NC. He divided among six daughters, to wit, Esther Alexander, Elizabeth Moore, Sarah Houston, Barbara McRee, Mary and Ann Phifer. Esther Alexander has departed this life since the death of her father and leaving your petitioners, Margaret who has intermarried with Robert W. Smith, Jane who intermarried with Samuel S. Harris, Sarah who intermarried with Francis Lock, Mary who has intermarried with Elam Harris, Eliza Mears relict of J. A. Mears, deceased, Caleb P. Alexander, Nancy Alexander, Easter Alexander, Charles and John Alexander her heirs at law surviving her, Barbara one of the daughters has departed this life since the death of her father leaving A. C. McRee who claims to be a tenant by the courtesy and your petitions, Cornelius McRee, C. P. McRee, Mary Ann and Margaret McRee her heirs at law surviving her. Sarah who intermarried with William Houston, also a daughter, and Elizabeth Moore also one of the daughters and Mary who intermarried with John N. Phifer is also a daughter. Sometime in the year 1817 a Power of Attorney signed by the devises, their husbands was delivered unto Joseph Steele, J. N. Alexander and Wilson Steele empowering them to divide land equally, to wit, Elam W. Harris, Mary Harris, Caleb P. Alexander, Eliza Mears, Sarah Lock, Francis Lock. Reg: 11 Feb 1829.”
