Priscilla "Penny" L. Swoboda, 70, Green Bay, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, surrounded by her family at a local hospital. She was born Nov. 22, 1940, to the late John and Gladys (Olsen) Pommerening in Rhinelander, Wis. On Feb. 23, 1963, she married Jelmer "Gus" Swoboda in Rhinelander.

Penny was a talented artist. Her favorite medium was oil painting. She enjoyed arranging and growing her flowers and started garden clubs in Oshkosh and Stevens Point. She was very influential in beginning the Humane Society in Stevens Point. Penny loved golfing, collecting and selling antiques. She loved spending her winters in Florida with her husband, Gus and their dog, Cleo. She especially enjoyed taking an annual trip with her three daughters.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gus; three daughters, Renee (Mike) VandenBusch, Nicole (Ayham) AlBoushi, and Andrea Swoboda and Chip Dahlin; and nine grandchildren, Wally, Najah, Nate, Gwen, Zaina, Gus, Max, Lex and Eddie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at Lyndahl Funeral Home with a parish wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday after 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe, where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Girotti officiating. Entombment will be at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
