US Senator. He was a Republican Senator from Georgia. He was appointed to the US Senate to replace John Forsythe who had resigned in 1821. He resigned in 1823 to become Mayor of Augusta again. He came to Georgia in 1797. After being education in commons schools, Walker studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1803. He was a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1807 to 1811, and was mayor of Augusta in 1818 and 1819.
