Last rites will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Ditmire-Zimmerman funeral home at Fulton for Orvee Warren BLACK, 80, Gary, who died Saturday at 5:55 p.m. in St. Mary's Mercy hospital at Gary after a week's illness.
The Rev. Philip ISGRIGG will officiate and burial will be in the Fulton Citizens cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
Mr. Black had lived in the Fulton community his entire lifetime until 1 1/2 years ago, when he moved to Gary. He was born May 19, 1877, in Bethlehem township of Cass county, the son of Andrew and Mary CAFFERTY BLACK. His marriage was Jan. 15, 1905, to Sarah Elizabeth DITMIRE, who died in 1943.
A retired farmer, he was a member of the Fulton E.U.B. church.
Surviving are two sons, Paul [BLACK], Sweetser, and Carl [BLACK], Gary; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. Preceding in death were one son, Gerald [BLACK], in 1944; three brothers, Dal, Shirley and D.W. [BLACK], and one sister, Elizabeth [BLACK].
